This problem of maximizing flow on road networks has three aspects: Data, Algorithms and Optimization, and Simulation. I will primarily focus only on the Algorithms and Optimization aspect. In particular, I will be presenting some techniques for modeling traffic flows in road networks. Then, within the scope of this model I will discuss some attempts to maximize the flow of traffic on road networks. In the course of the talk I will also highlight some problems that are related to this core problem that can be of interest for students who may want to pursue final year BTP.
